Coventry University - Singapore Hub

Coventry University’s global reputation is flourishing, and it is committed to invest more in its internationalisation agenda. In March 2019, it officially opened its first overseas hub in Singapore to further strengthen the university’s engagement in the Southeast Asian region. Coventry University Singapore Hub has forged several meaningful partnerships since its launch, and it continues to do more in the following areas:

Research Collaboration:
Coventry University Singapore Hub help establish partnerships for research collaboration to facilitate staff and student mobility as well as knowledge exchange.

Research Attachment Programme with A*STAR (Singapore):
Coventry University, through its Singapore Hub, has developed a joint research programme and a PhD collaboration. The A*STAR Research Attachment Programme (ARAP) will enable a PhD student from Coventry University to spend 2 years at any A*STAR Research Institutes in Singapore. The student will be primarily be based at Coventry University with an academic supervisor at CU and a co-supervisor in A*STAR Research Institute in Singapore.

Joint research with Singapore University of Technology and Design Research Centre (Singapore)

Coventry University, through its Singapore Hub, has developed a joint research and knowledge exchange in areas of engineering, computing and design, with a focus on transport safety and security.

Joint research with Universitas Indonesia (Indonesia Coventry University, through its Singapore Hub, brokered a joint research project funded by the Ministry of Education, Research and Technology to develop an early warning detection system for forest fires.

Joint research with Hamka University (Indonesia)

Coventry University, through its Singapore Hub, brokered a joint research project funded by the Ministry of Education, Research and Technology to look at the socioeconomic impact of Covid-19 in the dense population of Jakarta.

Knowledge Sharing:
Coventry University also supports businesses in Asia through tailored consultancies led by experts from different fields of interest such as counterterrorism, data science, transport economics, engineering, and health science. There are current partnerships with governments, universities, and the private sector in Asia.

Short course for Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Indonesia):
Coventry University developed a short course on data science for the staff of the Directorate General – Legal Administrative Affairs, Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Workshop by the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations. (Philippines):
The Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR) in Coventry University in partnership with the British Embassy in Manila conducted a workshop on countering violent extremism for senior government officials in the Philippines.

Digital skills introductory course (online) – Frontier Technology (Hong Kong):
Coventry University in collaboration with IOC developed a suite of digital skills introductory course (online) called Frontier Technology. This program has been contracted by an education distributor in Hong Kong to be introduced to secondary school students across the 500 schools as part of the government effort to prepare the future generation for industry 4.0

Student Mobility:
Coventry University recently launched the International Internship Programme which enables top-notch undergraduate and graduate students to spend 9 weeks at a partner company in Southeast Asia for internship. This helps students from Coventry University gain real life experience beyond the classrooms, but it also provides companies access to the pool of high-quality talents from the university. Coventry University is continuously looking to partner with companies for the internship programme.
